OK so it’s been ages since my blog last summer and there is lots to catch up on.

Dorset textile artist Carol Cruickshank in Dorset County Show September 2022
Neil and I had a great time at the show, this time taking some of Neil’s driftwood work to sell. It was fun meeting old friends and making new ones. I sold my original of Clavell Tower as well as prints, coasters, placemats, tiles and cards. I met Mandy and Jim from Martock Gallery, Somerset who wanted me to exhibit in their gallery.
Dorset textile artist Carol Cruickshank exhibiting in Poundbury with Artwey and Casterbridge Art Society
A week at the beginning of December saw Neil and I exhibiting in Poundbury. It was a beautifully curated and varied exhibition. We played and sang carols when we stewarded which was lots of fun.
Christmas Celebrations
As usual I spent quite a lot of time working on presents for the family - including an Advent Calendar and Christmas stocking for our latest family members - and placemats. Neil and I worked hard presenting “The Walking Nativity” around local pubs and on Christmas Eve in Easton Gardens on Portland. It was a great start to our family Christmas celebrations.

I was asked to make a textile picture as a surprise 70th birthday gift for someone who had admired my work at Otterton Mill. As it was of Durham Cathedral and her garden, I had to rely on photographs taken by the family as it was too far to visit. I was very pleased with the final textile.
What’s next for Dorset textile artist Carol Cruickshank?
It’s a new year and so far I have started my picture of Snowdonia from Anglesey then I will be working on a Hope Cove commission. I have some more commissions in the pipeline, and I am waiting for the right season for sketches and photographs.
I am not sure yet of any exhibitions this year as they need to be confirmed.
