Time for Family – Dorset Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank Summer 22
Australian visit
Australia is at last open so in March we went for 5 weeks to visit our son, his wife and 3 boys, the youngest just 4 months. Perth is a new place for them and for us. It was a busy, frantic, exhausting and happy time.
House and Garden Commission for Dorset Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank
When we came back, I finished a house and garden commission of a house in Abbotsbury.
Pheasant at Portland Bill – a new picture for Dorset Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank
After visits to my Mum and Neil’s Mum in Sale and Anglesey, I completed another picture of Portland Bill in time for Neil and I exhibiting at the View Café in the Heights Hotel on 14th May.
I chose not to take part in Dorset Art Weeks this year as I wanted to concentrate on family this year.
House and Garden Picture Gift from Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank
I then worked on a textile picture of our old back garden in Writtle, Essex, to give to my daughter. It shows our cats, Daisy & Louie and me & Ellie relaxing in deckchairs. She loved it – so now we must find a way to get it to her in Copenhagen …
Fun and Family Celebrations
More family holiday with our daughter and son and his family, first in the Scillies and then Anglesey & Cheshire. Lots of family celebrations with 4 birthdays (including one of 40 and one of 90), a wedding anniversary and a wedding. We had a great time seeing all our family (but missing the Australian contingent).
What’s Next for Dorset Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank?
Neil and I will be at Dorset County Show in the Artisan Tent on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September.
We’d love to see you there.
New commissions for Dorset Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank
I am working on more commissions for the rest of the year and into the next and am enjoying planning them. A trip to Hope Cove in Devon in July was both fun and productive for my next two commissions. Watch this space …..
