New landscape by Dorset Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank – “Autumn Walk, Corfe Castle”
Just completed my latest hand sewn textile. This time it’s an autumn landscape called Autumn Walk, Corfe Castle.
We found a new walk, starting at Scotland Farm, near Corfe village. It suddenly opened up to a lovely view of Corfe Castle. We sat down and started to eat our picnic when suddenly two roe deer, a mother and fawn, appeared out of the undergrowth just in front of us. There was a still moment when all our eyes met and then the deer bounded off away from us followed by our very excited dog, Honey. Happily, Honey was a lot slower than the deer. I wanted to capture that special moment in my latest textile.
Artwey’s first Instagram auction www.instagram.com/artwey_cic/
This runs until 29th November.
Both Neil and I have work in this. Mine is of Bennetts Water Gardens in Weymouth. It took me 40 hours of hand sewing to complete and contained many new techniques to depict this popular wedding venue. It was selected as a finalist in “Stitch in Time”, an international on-line competition run by Art Scene Today based in USA. To make a bid go to www.instagram.com/p/CHDKUDjJeUU/. Mine is Lot 7.
Neil’s is at www.instagram.com/p/CHIDbCJJVVP/ (Lot 10) if you want to make a bid. He collects driftwood (a really nice part of a boat in this case) from local beaches to make sculptures and furniture.

I have been taking part in a very successful on-line Christmas market all through November, which may continue beyond that date. As well as my cards, coasters, placemats, prints, tiles and cushions for sale there are also a host of local small businesses offering great and unusual, hand-made items for sale and great personal service.
