Autumn 2020 for Dorset Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank
Holiday Fun in Cornwall recreated in stitch by Dorset Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank
My latest work was made in tribute to my wonderful father who died of Covid19 earlier in the year.
I used our family’s favourite beach in Cornwall, Grebe (which we always called Durgan) and recreated a number of stories of our family & friends on holiday.
My Dad was always playing around making our times away fun. He used to make us laugh parading as the beach patrol man. He flew a kite and kept adding string and unravelling it until the kite was miles out. He was always falling asleep anywhere and we would try to take him by surprise and tip him off his perch, hence the dunking he tried to give me. However, I hung onto his neck so tightly he had to get wet too and all the paper money in his pocket (there was a lot) floated off and had to be quickly retrieved and dried.
I had a very happy time trying to recreate some of my memories of our times in Cornwall together into stitch. I made it in time for my sister’s 60th birthday.

A New Order of Cushions for Dorset Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank
I have ordered a few more cushion fronts of some of my most popular designs. Each cushion is 14 by 19 inches and made from lovely linen union with a fish design cotton on the back. The cost is £40 each plus postage. I have now made them up so contact me if you are interested in buying one.
Dorset Textile Artist Carol Cruickshank Planning Her Next Textile.
Just started to look at the most recent photos I took of Abbotsbury and of Corfe Castle. I have decided I need to revisit both venues to do more sketching and take more photos.
